Set in a secluded corner of a country Estate in the Yorkshire Dales, Eden is an outstanding holiday cottage offering a retreat from the fast pace of modern day life. As one of our larger properties, it is ideal for extended families and groups of friends to enjoy.
Surrounded by gravelled courtyards, ancient oak trees and magnificent views Eden is a grand house born out of a 17th Century barn. The interior is a blend of retro design and contemporary minimalism creating a stylish but ultimately comfortable holiday cottage.
On the ground floor, Eden offers an impressive entrance hall, generous family kitchen with lovely views, a large sitting room complete with wood burning stove, a study area and a deliciously surprising dining room. Reflecting the style of the 16th Century Broughton Hall, it is in striking contrast to the rest of the cottage and makes for an intimate venue for dinner. There are also two double bedrooms, on this floor sharing a family bathroom. (one of which can be made up as a double or as a twin)
Upstairs houses the remaining bedrooms, (one of which can be made up as a double or twin) three doubles and one large single, and an additional 2 Jack & Jill bathrooms. In total, up to 11 adults can be accommodated comfortably with heaps of room for travel cots or children’s beds.
The impressive interior of Eden is matched entirely by the magnificent landscape outside. The cottage has a large private garden and beyond that 3000 acres of peaceful accessible countryside – for your benefit, there is a hand-painted map detailing the best trails and routes around the Estate. A wood-fired hot tub provides some glamour whilst the fire pit invites night time gatherings of music and storytelling.
Eden is set at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales near Skipton within the Broughton Hall Country Estate. Dating back to the 16th Century the main hall is an architectural delight, and is just a few minutes’ walk across the Estate. There are miles of peaceful uninterrupted walking from the doorstep, including a very pleasant 10-minute stroll to the Estate pub. You can choose to enjoy the luxury of peace and quiet or opt for something a little more adventurous. The Estate can organise various activities for you from cycling to fly fishing.
If you want to venture off the grounds Eden is ideally placed to explore the historic market town of Skipton and the exquisite Yorkshire Dales beyond. It’s a true walker’s paradise here and you are very close to the famous Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside (more below).
If you’re more of a roamer than a rambler try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey. These striking ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit. Top it off with dinner in the Michelin-starred Burlington restaurant found in the Devonshire Arms close to the Abbey.
