Rokerby Cottage is a charming 2-bedroom holiday home set in an idyllic village just north of Richmond. There is much to love about this luxury cottage, with its elegant styling, sheltered courtyard garden and open fire. And did we mention the Michelin-recommended fine dining Inn a stone’s throw away in the village?
Rokerby Cottage can be summed up in one word, class. It oozes the story from every room, from the neutral hues of the sitting room to the original art and striking blue in the bathroom. The owner has created a very stylish and importantly, very comfortable little cottage.
Step into the formal entrance hall and on into the living area of the cottage. The sitting room features a beautiful stone open fire, a formal dining area set by the window and a comfortable sofa to settle down on each evening. There is also Freeview TV, a DVD player, MP3 Docking station and Wi-Fi to keep you entertained in here.
Carry on, throw the French doors into the bright and elegant kitchen. The kitchen includes a less formal dining area, great for breakfast or your morning coffee. Throw open the patio doors to the garden and enjoy the sound of birdsong to accompany your meals. The kitchen includes all of the typical mod cons you could wish for; a washing machine, dishwasher, microwave etc. And if you enjoy a spot of cooking on holiday, you will want for nothing in this kitchen.
Wander on up the corridor to the family bathroom. You’ll find a separate walk-in shower here in addition to a bath, perfect if you feel like a long hot soak after a day’s walking in the Dales.
There are two bedrooms in Rokerby Cottage. The first is a lovely twin room with its traditional bed throws and cosy cottage style. The second master bedroom enjoys direct access to the courtyard garden, what better way to start the morning than throwing open the patio doors and letting in that fresh air… Both bedrooms have views out to the park and pretty church grounds beyond, and both have their TVs, great if you feel like a lazy morning in bed.
To the rear of the cottage, you can enjoy sitting in the private and very peaceful courtyard garden. The views towards the church and the Yorkshire Dales beyond are just beautiful, and because this is such a sheltered area, it’s the perfect place to indulge in a spot of al fresco dining.
Rokerby Cottage is the perfect luxury holiday home for couples and young families looking for an elegant and tasteful stay. And with the Oak Tree Inn just a few doors down, it’s pretty much perfect for food lovers too.
Rokerby Cottage has a great location set at the Northern Tip of the Yorkshire Dales, and with less than an hour’s drive to the coast and the City of York, it’s an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Set in the picturesque and peaceful village of Hutton Magna surrounded by open countryside, it’s a relaxing and calming spot to hide away in for a while. And if you’re a bit of a food lover, there are several excellent dining pubs in the area, including the gorgeous Oak Tree Inn in the village, the great Black Bull at Moulton and the Shoulder of Mutton at Middleton Tyas. The Bay Horse at Hurworth is another excellent eatery nearby.
The cottage is just a few miles away from Richmond, a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for an authentic taste of this magnificent countryside. Stop at the Wensleydale Heifer for lunch before heading back to the comfort of your large luxury Yorkshire cottage.
Further south, you’ll find the pretty market town of Northallerton where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street. The excellent Betty’s Tearooms is here as is a fantastic local deli, Lewis & Cooper’s Food Emporium and of course the quintessentially Yorkshire department store of Barkers.
To take in the North York Moors head further south still and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top said by some to be the finest in all of England. The gorgeous market town of Helmsley makes for the perfect pit-stop and if you feel like something special for lunch, make your way to the Star Inn at Harome.
