The interior style is New York Loft apartment meets seaside chic. All of the characters of this gorgeous building has been retained and given a 21st Century makeover. Comfortable and eclectic furniture sits against a pale backdrop, with dramatic dashes of colour and brooding seascapes threw in. It’s a peaceful, bright and comfortable look.
The heart of the house is the dramatic open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen with its double height ceiling and New England clapboard walls. This amazing space is divided up into separate areas. There’s a cosy corner with soft sofas to chill and watch TV by the wood-burner and the dining/kitchen area where you can pop open a bottle of bubbly and enjoy everyone’s company while you cook up a storm. And for your entertainment, SKY TV, DVD Player and Wi-Fi all included.
There are 3 bedrooms in the cottage, two on ground level. The first is a grand double bedroom with a King Size bed and windows at either side. The second bedroom is a super-cute twin room, with two single beds. Your kids will love this one! There is also a family bathroom on this floor with a bath and shower overhead. The third bedroom is upstairs – a generous sized double room with an en-suite bathroom and bath. Please note as this room is in the eaves of the house there are deep steps over the beams to the bedroom area and bathroom.
Outside you’ll find a large lawned garden to enjoy, with the sound of the sea floating up the valley towards you. It’s the perfect spot for the kids to run around and blow off some steam. Next door to this luxury Yorkshire Coast cottage you’ll find a lovely boutique bar and restaurant. So if you feel like letting someone else do the breakfast one morning just pop in. And in the evening you can mosey over to the bar and snug for a little pre-dinner aperitif or stop in the restaurant for a slap up meal – the best of both worlds!

That’s not to say it’s stuck in the past, in fact, the Yorkshire Coast’s villages and towns combine the traditional with the contemporary effortlessly, with trinket shops and tea rooms sitting alongside up-market restaurants and champagne bars.
Sandsend itself is a gorgeous little seaside village. With its handsome promenade, long stretch of beach, several excellent eating options and world class day Spa, you could happily spend your whole holiday here.
The School House is also just a few miles from the beautiful town of Whitby. With its wonderful seaside heritage, excellent restaurants, independent shops and a host of bars and cafes along its medieval streets, it has so much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. It’s also well worth striking out to sample some of the other coastal villages nearby. Robin Hood’s Bay is one of the most popular coastal locations in Yorkshire or the UK for that matter. The village is a maze of cobbled streets and higgledy-piggledy houses which seem to tumble down towards the sea. Staithes and Runswick Bay are also all within easy driving distance, each with their own unique charm.
Head inland from the cottage and you can be in the heart of the North York Moors within minutes. Take a tour of the impossibly pretty towns and villages in the area, Egton, Danby, Castleton, Rosedale…Or head up on the high moorland of Castleton Rigg, we guarantee on a clear day it will take your breath away.
